Watch Assembly Procedure

The Ronda Time Center, is based in Southern Switzerland, assembles “Swiss Made” watches on behalf of numerous brands from all over the world. The casing up of watches is also known as watch assembly or T2 production.

Dials and hands are being set on Lecureux lines

Incoming goods and inspection

All incoming goods are counted and the quantities are compared with the delivery note. Upon request, we can conduct a 100% visual inspection of all your dials, casings, case backs and crowns on reception and issue a corresponding inspection report.

Following acceptance, our watchmakers assemble a sample watch so that technical data, such as stem length and hand height, etc. can be determined. At the same time, the components are unpacked and placed in individual internal transport containers to protect them from dust.

Customers can determine the provisional delivery date as soon as a job order has been initiated.

Fitting the dial and hands

Following removal of the working hands from the movement, the dial is placed manually. Next the hour and minute hands, the chronograph hands and centre hand are correctly fitted using a semi-automatic Lecureux line. The height and the correct position of the hands are checked using a display. With movements manufactured externally and smaller ranges this is done by hand.

Casing and closing the caseback

Watch glasses are cleaned with compressed air and vacuum; following this operation, the individual watches are cased by hand. The case back is closed either using an electric screwdriver (individual screws) or using the Roxer machine for screw-down backs.

Proof of water resistance

All assembled watches are checked for water resistance, regardless of batch size. The maximum test values are 20 atm. / 200m. - At a premium charge, the watches can also be checked in real water at max. 30 atm, including water condensation.

Setting the time and date

The time and date are set at the customer's request. The finished watches are checked for good working and all chronographs are initialized. The assembly of the watch head is now complete.

24/48 hour control and functional check

All watches undergo at least a 48-hour check for good working before they are readied for shipment or strap assembly.

Strap assembly plus quality control and final inspectioin

The various watch straps, made from leather, rubber or metal, are fitted using specialist tools.
A QC team checks all watches 100% for aesthetic defects, rejecting the ones that are not up to standard. Faulty watches are reworked and inspected again.

Packing and shipping

The watches are placed in individual plastic bags as standard and packed 10 to a box. Packages of max. 20 kg in weight and readied for shipment are forwarded to the destination specified by the customer.

Assembly order status

Following the start of production, customers can determine the status of their assembly order at any time. Information is available by phone and email.
