REACH - European Chemical Regulation

On June 1, 2007, European Union Regulation No. 1907/2006 entered into effect. This regulation - referred to as REACH in the following - relates to the registration, evaluation and authorization of chemical substances and the relative restrictions.

Details are available at: http://ec.europa.eu/environment/chemicals/reach/reach_intro.htm

Quartz movements and REACH

In accordance with the above-mentioned regulation (including Art. 3), watches and their components will be classified as so-called products.

It can be assumed that quartz watch movements do not release any substances (including upon disposal).
Consequently, registration of these substances is not required (amongst others according Art.7).

This determination corresponds to that of the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH.

List of substances of high concern - "Candidate List"

In accordance with the regulation, the European Chemicals Agency ECHA publishes on its website a "candidate list" of substances of high concern.

This list can be found at: http://echa.europa.eu/chem_data/candidate_list_en.asp

Measures undertaken by RONDA

RONDA has in joint cooperation with its suppliers assessed the safety of its products in respect of all constituent substances.
No substances figuring on the "candidate list" have been detected in concentrations exceeding 0.1 mass %.

RONDA will in future check its substances inventory periodically against the "candidate list" and will notify customers through its web site http://www.ronda.ch should any substances be detected in concentrations in excess of 0.1 mass %.
Consequently, customers will at all times be in a position to review at http://www.ronda.ch all relevant information in accordance with par. 33 in respect of downstream purchasers and users.

Thus RONDA fulfills its obligation to disclose information concerning substances contained in its products in compliance with Art. 33 of the above-mentioned regulation.
